This is a desk that I made out of recycled 2×4 that I saved from my own remodel. I separated the wood with aluminum strips for a more interesting look. I love combining wood and metal. The aluminum will also help keep it strong since there will be 8 feet of book shelves above it and the desk will most likely be used as a ladder. The built in shelves are recycled 2×12 scaffold from when my lovely wife and I resided our upper floor.
